I'm going to build a series of gaming PCs soon and wonder if it's worth combining a Voodoo2 and an EAX capable sound card?
Question is, is there anything the mid range system would be best handling Glide, that would also want EAX? I have an Audigy 4 lying around.. Most EAX games seem they'd be fine on a modern system, using DirectX.
Main gaming system is a Q8300 w/4GB RAM, a HD6950 and an X-Fi Elite Pro (when I get it), running Windows 8 and SteamOS.
Low end system - probably a 486DX2 66 w/20MB RAM, a small hard disk or CF card, VLB cirrus logic, SB16 and Reelmagic card because Sam and Max falls over on my mid range system. DOS only.
Mid range - Gateway machine with a silent P III 700MHz or similar, however much RAM I can stick in it, Intel SSD with IDE adapter, AWE32, S3 Virge PCI, Voodoo2.
I have an MT32 and an SC55 to connect via the Creative cards.
