Lo everyone,

i own an old MT-32 first gen, an SC-55 MKII and an SC-8850. It often is very confusing if a game was made for the MT-32 or the SC-55 or up.
Is there anywhere a list of games specifically made for the sound canvasses (the MT-32 already has a list, but i think it is far from complete).

I played Lands of Lore for a while with an MT-32 and it sounded great, i recently tried it on my newly acquired SC-55 MKII, it sounds different (naturally) but it also sounds great.
Now i am one of those people who want to hear the sound as it was heard by the composer. Does anyone know if this game was made for the Sound Canvas and the support was added for the MT-32 or was it the other way round ?

In other words, is this an MT32 game or a Sound Canvas (GM or GS) game ?

Thanks.

Hmm being released in 1993 if I had to make a bet I would go with General MIDI. But it's a tough one as it's right on the transition.

Does the MT-32 play any custom sounds / sound effects?

Afaik Land of Lore is a SC55 game (probably GS), the MT32 tracks are very nice though and it's one of my favorites.
There was a discusion about this question at Queststudios forum if my memory is correct.
Did extract all midi's with SysX and was start giving them a name during playing the game but i got some health problems at some point and never finished the little project.
Will give it a try asap to finish it.
@Philscomputerlab, the MT32 plays custom sound effects.

Does it play custom sounds, i honestly do not know. In any case sound effects should be played by the soundblaster.
The mt-32 is capable of great music, its just that i am never at ease not knowing what i am listening to. Is it the original or the port ...

I swear its like a desease ...

Lands of Lore sounds amazing with either MT-32 or SC-55. A lot of people seem to prefer to use a SC-55 and I have always been under the impression the musical scores were composed using General MIDI\SC-55 but I much prefer the overall sound and heavy drums of the MT-32.

Either devices in Lands of Lore will bring a smile to your face and sound fantastic! I thought the CM-500 Lands of Lore video on YOUTUBE sounded awesome too.

Try all of your midi devices and follow your ear!
