Got Warlords 2 Deluxe to run in XP using VDM.

Sound and video is fine if i turn on basic VESA support.

But the face with the mask comes up, eyes blinking, and does nothing at the main menu.

I can't click anything but i can use the mouse, and keyboard input's are ignored.

Anyone got any ideas?

Can you please explain me how do you make Warlords 2 Deluxe to run under WinXP? I tried to turn Basic VESA support on but when run INSTALL.EXE I got following message:
[q] ERROR:3
*** SVGA mode not available ***[/q]
Moreover, when run WAR2.BAT all I get is command line (seems like MULTIP.EXE that are being launched from WAR2.BAT works incorrect under WinXP). And finally, when run W2.EXE I get the error:
[q]NTVDM processor have found incorrect instruction[/q]
So how have you made this game to run?

Magically yours

Gonzman, I had the same problem (on Win2k) until I changed the sound settings of Warlords II Deluxe 2.2.4(2) using the install program from SB Pro II A220 I5 D1 to SB 16 A220 I7 D1.
However I still get a problem where the mouse doesn't move beyond 1/3rd of the screen vertically.
I've tried an old serial mouse, but that didn't behave any different, and I still haven't figured it out.

Raistlin, I used the custom setting options of VDMSound and the only things I changed was to enable Basic VESA and to up the EMS to 16384k.

I'm running:

Win2k SP4
VDMSound 2.0.4 update 2
LaunchPad 1.0.1.1 beta 5
Warlords II Deluxe 2.2.4(2)

Perhaps VESA requires some help from the video card?

My hardware:
NVIDIA Geforce 4 TI4400
Creative Labs Audigy Gamer
Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical
Taday's Mouse (Serial PNP)

Update: I seem to have gotten the mouse clip problem fixed using Mouse2KV (well sorta).

The mouse now spans the 640x480 screen using the Mouse2KV 80 60 1 1 W2 line (I don't know why the resolution seems to be divided by 8 ).

However, whenever I try to move the mouse over an active / selectable item (such as an enabled menu item, or one of the active buttons on the main screen), then the mouse jumps to a different position on the screen.
When I move the mouse over non-active items, it works just fine though.

I think I'll post a question about this in the DOS forum since this doesn't seem to be the correct spot.
