I found that the bios update where really weird / strange on this MSI K8N NEO 2 Platinum motherboard back in the day.
With weird i ment that things where suddently removed from a bios refresh.
The thing where i got stuck to.. I know that the latest versions where worst versions..
When i look at the list i see that version 1.9 is very important to do.
Type Award BIOS Language English
Release Date 2005-07-12 Version 1.9
File Size 0 MB File
Description - Support AMD E6 CPU.
- Support Cool and Quiet funtion.
- Update NVPXE version to 2.12.
Because it would update the NVPXE to 2.12 what otherwise would leave it to a 2.xx BETA one. As i understand it clearly, the Nvidia NVPXE is a kind of LAN ROM that acts as a LAN boot device..
I know that the older 2.xx BETA version is a kind of slowly to boot from..or to your main harddisk. Newer bios version doesnt update this ROM information, so you really cant ignore this version to update from to later ones. Iam also know that version 1D isnt really a best version.. Because when i enable the boot image screen it often will be that the system would freeze on boot.. When disable this boot image screen it would run just fine.. Iam really not intended to install an X2 processors because thats not the main goal here.. I just want to make a system to run a dual boot win98se / windows xp with.. But i have consider windows vista is well.. But is seems windows vista isnt full compatible with this board. Also running windows xp in virtual box wouldnt be save as well. So i really dont want to wasting my time on other covering solutions to run windows xp save on. Because i think every os will soon or later be EOL and then also got security problems..
But the question why i made this topic.. I really like to know how important are the latest bios files: named: 1.C and 1.0D ? I know its just adding so new micro code to it..
But i dont know which type processors where added with this releases.. Does somebody knows?
