I have an old Packard Bell PB610, Im almost certain this is my motherboard http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/pb/mb/430.htm but not 100%

I was getting real time clock failure and the old battery was starting to leak so I removed it, and the jumper on J24. Then I installed a Tadiran TL-5242/w backup battery.

The bios will now hold any changes I make except the time, I also get a real time clock failure message at the start of the bios bootup and half of the time on boot up I wont get anything instead I get 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps.

Anyone have an ideas what the problem might be?

"starting to leak"

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the source of the problem. Is there any corrosion on the board?

No corrosion, I removed the old battery and cleaned the solder points. All the corrosion was on the battery tips lucky and not on the motherboard
