I've been playing around with the Yamaha YMF-719 recently and found it very useful. Though right now, I have it installed in my AMD K6 build (motherboard installed is an ASUS P5A). Evidently, no matter what I set the mixing rate at, it always outputs at 44 khz. Most importantly, DOS games like Duke Nukem II have the audio cut off, especially during the intro. Any suggestions? Latest drivers are installed and the DOS config is set properly to my knowledge.

How can you tell? There's no digital output on the YMF719. Or is everything played back at double speed or something?
Audio cutoff in DN2 is CPU speed-related, IIRC.

What I meant was that it sounds like it's playing SFX at its highest mixing rate, even if I set it to something lower like 11 khz.

The output is entirely unfiltered when using the SB interface, which does sound very "crisp". Is that what you mean?
If so, that's not a bug, it's a feature 😉

IIRC the datasheet on the YMF-715 chipset is clear about the Sigma Delta codec being able to output 16bit @44KHz. So the card is indeed capable of it, probably 16bit 44KHz in WSS mode and 8bit 44KHz in Sound Blaster Pro 2 mode. In mod players it should be easy to tell the difference. I always set my YMF cards to mix at 44KHz, but i'll try it and see if setting a lower sampling frequency produces a change. So i have to make the same question as jwt27. How can you tell? Did you notice a difference in playback?

And about Duke Nukem 2 the cut off is speed related. If i disable the internal cache on my system the sounds play just fine.
