So, the original drive that came with this would not detect any CD I threw at it. So I replaced it with a generic CD drive from another PC of mine. So I hook it up in the PC, but in the bios it is not being detected. But in Windows its being detected fine. Is there a fix for this?

What are you trying to do? Boot from CD? the machine isn't capable of doing that as far as I can remember, UNLESS you use something like Plop boot manager from here: http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanagers.html

It gives a option in the BIOS to be booted from the cd-rom, but the new drive isn't detected at all in the bios.

This is weird... perhaps a BIOS bug? Do you have the latest BIOS version?

Anyway, as a workaround you might want to put a decent bootmanager (like Plot, SmartBootManager or whatever) on a floppy and just use that when you need to boot from a CD/DVD.

Make sure the CD drive is set to either Cable Select or Master/Slave. Sometimes these older machines do not like CS I have noticed

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Can't find any option like this in the bios.
