Hey guys,

I've been trying to run Quest For Glory II and having a problem getting it to run with the SoundBlaster Driver. Whenever I load the game up it gives me "Error Initializing Sound Hardware" message and then even though I can see the appropriate mouse cursor, the screen is either blank or garbled and nothing else happens until I force-close DOSBox. I've tried three different versions of the game and four different versions of the SNDBLAST.DRV. None seem to work. All of the other SCI games I've tried work just fine.

I can get QFG2 to work with Adlib but I don't believe there are any sound effects with that option. Does anyone know how to solve this? I did notice that when I install the game from my original QFG Collection, it installs QFG2 with Adlib instead of SoundBlaster. But surely there is a way to make Soundblaster work since it is an option.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Just tried the GOG version and it comes configured to use SNDBLAST.DRV, which is working fine. DOSBox is configured with IRQ7 for the Sound Blaster,

I checked, that will likely be the case. GOG configured the cycles to fixed 10000.

It is a timer issue. You can use the new installer, the updated driver or the GOSiERRA patcher.

And of course there's the unofficial freeware "VGA" remake for Windows, which I hear is very nice.

AH! Thank you, once again! Your SHP continues to be a truly invaluable resource! Used GOSIERRA and that seems to have done the trick! Thanks so much!
