So far I've only noticed this during battles, but is seems no matter what my video and or sound settings, any time a sound effect is played (I hit the enemy or the enemy hits me) there is a pause in the game (while sound effect plays the animation stops and the last music note sticks, until the sound effect is done playing). I don't recall if this happened with the original game or not, just wondering if anyone else has encountered this, and or if there is a fix for it. I've tried adjusting various settings, but nothing has fixed it yet.
P.S. I am using DOSBox 0.74, my config is attached.
