and i'm referring to something of the "DONKEY.BAS" standard, with the box surrounding the title on a black 40-width text screen, with "IBM Personal Computer" above it.

I'm curious if there are others, especially outside IBM's own, that did this to make their games more 'official' 😀

All I can think of off the top of my head is one of the Centipede remakes, and of course... DONKEY. I swore i've seen more games that had these before, but can't place my finger on what.

There were a bunch of non-IBM games like that - others I can think of are Serpent, Blackjack, and that 'classic' middle finger to Apple, Attack (MG lists this one as an actual IBM release, but I'm pretty sure that's wrong). 😁 There are more, for sure. I suppose they were just released by some disk club or BBS that simply chose to slap an IBM-ripoff title screen on everything.

Funny you bring that up... I had a talk about these elsewhere just a couple of days ago, heh. (Also: anyone who can tell me the meaning of those cryptic "XXX-5-5-X" codes in the above screenshots wins either TEH PRIZE, or 1 [one] internets - circle your choice)

Alley Cat also have that 'small' Interlaced IBM logo on its intro.

Forgot about this one - another "mystery code" game

Plus:

The attachment gwbasic_005.png is no longer available

On the other hand, IBM's own game 'Target' (comes with one of the first versions of the BASIC Compiler) doesn't use the 'IBM-style' title screen at all...
