AMD's Drivers + Download Center lists Catalyst 14.4 for Windows XP 32-bit for all Radeon R7 2xx series. XFX (picked an IHV at random) also lists the R7 240 as compatible with Windows XP and above.

If you want an nVidia alternative, the GeForce GT 610 would be fairly similar.

Well, my intel onboard video card doesn't have hardware T&L so thats why I asked. Even a Radeon Xpress 200 had hardware T&L and the openGL was hardware, not software like my Intel(R) G33/G31.

Good news. I've changed my psu to a 600wt and I ordered on Amazon an ATI HD 6670. I wonder how good the ATI HD 6670 is?

Outdated it is. Some sort of low-end nowadays, but still waaay better than integrated intel Gxx

The HD 6670 looks rather slow but it dosnt need much power, 300w would have been OK.
As long as you did not pay much for it its a decent budget choice for games up to year 2011 or so.

If your CPU is a E5300 then you should try changing the FSB from 200 to 266 for 3466 MHz, no other changes should be needed if everything is on auto. If our CPU is an E4700 then sell it (worth $15) and buy an E8400 for less money or perhaps even a Q6600 for a few dollar more.

I'm not trying to play the newest games. I'd just to play the Elder Scroll games and others. Since my computer costs about a $100 used I will be satisfied with it.

I know that double posting is a no-no but I'd just put in and installed my new graphics card. It may not be the best but it is better than my onboard graphics card by a long shot.

honestly I'd suggest grabbing a Q6600/q6700/q8xxx cpu, it will really beathe new life into that box.

Not until he replaces that POS PSU with something less likely to catch fire/actually power a C2X/Q. Even then, I play modern games acceptably well with my E6850. The HD6670 is my bottleneck for it.

naw, it would handle it just fine.

In actuality the PSU I had put in there died in two weeks but because it was under warranty a different brand of PSU was to replace the one i had put in. I have to look inside my machine but it is probably not a Sentey like my last one was.
