Pentium MMX233 (OC to 250MHz)
1x128mb sdram
MS-5184 Motherboard
1 HDD ide 80gb (working at 32gb 🙁 )
1 DVD-RW ide
1 Floppy Drive 1.44mb
1 ISA sound card (Game theater 64)
2 PCI Boards (1 Ethernet, 1 USB 2.0 PCI Card)
1 Voodoo 3 3000 AGP

On future:
-Diamond Monster MX300 or K6-III+

For now I'm using a 250Watts PSU (FSP250-60GTA FSB GROUP INC), it's quite a good psu, I'm using it since 2000, it' really heavy compared to other psu that I had (also it support almost 1 second without energy 😮 ) BUT, it's an atx psu (could be fixed with an adapter, but I would need to import one since the ones that I found on my country cost like U$42,36 (vs U$6,00 that I found over ebay) AND my nightmare, it's a 220V only psu 🙁 (it was bought on germany but I'm not from there ;--;), and for t hat I always need to turn on a heavy transformer '-'.
So, would that config work fine with that psu?

Probably? I never really heard about PSU voltages being a problem on systems from that time. 230W versus 250W isn't much of a difference anyway.

According to http://www.dewassoc.com/kbase/hard_drives/har … ze_barriers.htm that drive should probably work fine at its full capacity if you use the right disk formatting tools.

A 230W PSU is still way overkill, that system draws less than 100W. No wattage worries.

A bit off, about the hdd, I remember there were 3 ways to select the hdd jumper, the first was master, the second was slayer and the theird idk what is it, I know if I set it to master or slayer, the bios will get stucked on detecting the HDD, but on the third position it'll detect it, but with the wrong hdd size, it's a 80gb seagate model, and at the time, there wasn't nothing on the hdd explaining what that third jumper was...

At first I thought you were talking about master/slave/cable select, but obviously you mean the jumper for limiting the HDD to 32GB. In this case this is useful since the MS-5184 BIOS only supports HDDs up to 32GB.
There are several options if you want to use the full capacity:
- Remove the limit jumper, set the HDD geometry in BIOS manually and install a hard disk overlay (can't give you any details here)
- Use another (smaller) HDD as a boot drive, disable this HDD in the BIOS and let the OS detect the disk (don't know if this works in 9x, should work in w2k/XP or Linux).
- Find a BIOS for your board which doesn't have the 32GB limit (either a newer one from the manufacturer or a modded one)

I found a modded BIOS on http://wims.rainbow-software.org/index.php?st … t=100&count=100 which should support HDDs up to 128GB so you might want to try that. (Most elegant solution.)
There is also a BIOS update on http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/k6plus.htm but that one doesn't say anything about HDD support, only K6-2+/3+ support.

Hmm I didn't knew about that modded bios 😳 thanks for the link 😁
But I'll not lie, the only thing I don't like on my motherboard is that the bios is an EPROM bios ;--;

EDIT: It looks like that modified bios already support K6-III+, but it looks like there's also a low format into bios setting on that modified bios file 😮 Well, now I just need a way to upgrade the bios 🙁

Can the EPROM be replaced by an EEPROM? If so, you might as well do that in the process.

You are fine with the 250, it's more than enough.

I've use a killawatt meter to measure the watts drawn at the wall from all the systems I setup and the pre Athlon/P4 stuff draws less than 100w under full load.

Which brand harddrive is is? Most manufacturers offer a boot disk to install a LBA/CHS translation bios to the mbr. Maxblast is one, I try not to use anything like that because you can't mount the drive on another system but will give you full access if you can't get the BIOS itself to work with the system.

When I setup an 80GB with Windows 98 boot disk Fdisk and format didn't display the right size but it was a problem with the size readout in Dos, after 98 installed it showed the correct size.

Average PSU wattage for Pentium / Pentium MMX socket 7 systems is 150-200W.
