I am trying to use DOSBox to run "The Best of Windows Games". I extracted all the files to the hard drive (files were on a compact disk that was made for this method in mind). I used the regular steps and everything seems fine except when I try to run any of the .exe files I get the message "This game requires Microsoft Windows". Well I'm using Windows 7 64-bit! (That's why I'm using DOSBox to begin with.)

All disk requirements are met. No corrupted files. Checked that files are NOT read-only. I'm running DOS on an administrator account. Usual game launch method being used from DOSBox Wiki from Hard Drive (Not root folder of C drive).

You'll need to run a suitable old Windows inside of DOSBox. (The host's operating system is irrelevant.)

DOSBox is a Dos emulator, Dos is an operating system. Dos is obviously not the same as Windows...
You may have luck getting those games to work in Windows 3.x which you can install in dosbox, following my guise. But you need to get that operating system off ebay or similar...

Edit, moved to Dosbox forums
