Today i have got some replacement parts for my coolermaster HAF922 case.. Installed an new plastic top panel.. The old one was broken on the mounting points.. It had USB 3.0 functionality previously.. But now its got an USB 2.0 panel instead.. Thats a lot better for an old computer.. This system would only running windows XP as OS. Thought to dual boot it with windows 98 se, but it otherwise would give me to much hardware compatibillity conflicts i really can deal with it. The other items was an side panel with window.

~ At least it can do black and white~

You are cursed when it comes to Core2-based hardware xD. I wonder how your experiences would've been if you went with modded Core2-based Xeons instead of Core2Quads... Surely, Intel's gotta have better quality control on their server line. Anyway, that is soon to become irrelevant, that Haswell Xeon should not only make the Core2Quad and the Pentium D look like jokes, but thanks to the "IPC slowdown" in recent years, unless a massive leap in quantum computing happens, that processor is sure to remain competitive, performance-wise, for quite a while.

Yeah, well, the RAID array was moved, so the only things left for it were two regular disks which can be moved to the Pentium D as intended now the IDE ones have been removed after a final backup, also it ran the scanner, but I can move that to the P3. The whole Core 2 line-up can sod off and die for all I care, I will never touch one again and I sincerely urge others to avoid them. Get a Phenom (Not the 900 series though) or an Opteron if you want something from that era. Intel's newer i5 and i3 are affordable though and are really solid.

The E3 though, that was the plan. 775 and Phenom II gear is so expensive here and would have to be replaced anyway, for all I know Win10 or the next Vegas might want features they don't have and to be honest, they're too slow anyway. I'd rather spend £300 on a kickass CPU I can run for the next 8+ years with a £150 motherboard than spend almost the same on outdated crap that might not work and will likely need to be replaced soon. I took the same approach with the Pentium D and it paid off.

Woah, cool, where did you get that?
Nice timing too. Did you see the Zenith 386 I found last saturday? http://imgur.com/a/wXkJF

I got it on eBay, do you want links?
Yeah, I did galnce at that but was busy at the time. Nice system, I might look for one myself at a later time actually. Can't help wonder if the "docking" port is for those boxes, looks like it, do you have a chassis option in the Power menu in the BIOS? As for the card slot on the side, that's for the modem, the little connector to the right of it is maybe a LAN dongle? Different dongles would offer RJ45, Co-ax or Thick Ethernet I guess, otherwise maybe an external floppy.

can you check if it does not contain the "buffer overflow" bug anymore?

Yes. The MT-32 (New) / with headphone port does not have this issue.

I hope you are going to replace the capacitors.

I replaced the big metal can capacitor(s) with modern electrolytics. I tested a few of the other caps and they seem to be okay.

This is not my image, I found it online. It's point to point as was said, and it's a nightmare in my opinion, though some may prefer the way they did things back then.

FINALLY found some FPM ram for my FIC 486-VIP-IO. Very expensive, but the seller did agree to come to my place to test them. Got 2x16MB 7ns micron 8 chips single sided and 2x8MB 7ns kingston 4 chips double sided for 15$. Not used to paying so much for SIMM modules - i usually get a small bag full of assorted untested modules for 10$. Happy I found them tough - I can now run my 586 with 32MB of ram. Tested it with 48MB but the mainboard does not like having single and double sided modules mixed together.

Good for you, but I'm pretty sure it's 70ns. So, all those assorted bags before contained only EDO? Or only 4MB SIMMs?

Yeah, 70ns - my bad 😁

Yes they only contained EDO, SDRAM, 30-pin simms (I have 15 1MB modules, 8 are being used in my 386 project) and proprietary SIMM modules - some apple 68 pins and some IBM 4MB SIMM modules for PS2 systems (8 or 9 I think).

8086 8MHz, 640KB RAM, 10MB hard drive, 720KB floppy drive, 640x400 CGA-compatible plasma screen. It's basically identical to the base T3100 I have, just with a different processor. This brings my Toshiba plasma portable collection up to seven...only ̶t̶w̶o̶ three more left to collect! 🤣

Bought an IBM ValuePoint 433DX/Dp (performance model) today. In 2 weeks I may pick up 2 IBM PS/2s with CT5330s on a business trip. 🤣
