I actually made the change between my post and yours because the cursor movement was really sluggish while full-screen. OpenGL is the way to go for sure.

As for this problem with not working on my MacBook: while it's disappointing, it's no big deal. It works on my PC, and it works on another Windows laptop I have. I'm definitely not losing sleep over it.
