A while ago, I bought a Sound Blaster box, manual, and inserts -- everything except the card itself. I was planning on adding one of my loose cards to complete the set.

I'm trying to figure out which model goes with this box. The card on the box looks like a SB 1.0 or SB 1.5. However, the back of the box has a sticker with the number "1350," which makes me think that a SB 2.0 goes inside. Also, the manual shows a card that looks like a SB 2.0, not the ones on the box.

I'm guessing that Creative just used up early SB 1.0 and 1.5 boxes for SB 2.0 models. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

I had one of these! My very first Sound Blaster. It was a 1.5 that was inside. The 2.0 I got later was in a blue / yellow box with bundled games.

Yes, Creative apparently used remaining stock SB 1.5 boxes to ship SB 2.0's, this at a time where they were also introducing Sound Blaster Pro's with the older box style as well. Even Sound Blaster Pro 2's were sold in the older box style, so it won't be wrong to have a CT1350 inside that box. If the box has CT1350 on it it is clear that Creative was using older boxes for the 2.0 Sound Blasters.

I actually prefer the older boxes art compared to the new ones.

So, the 2.0 could be found in both box styles. Maybe the serial number would provide a clue. In my photo above, the number is 288957. I assume this number corresponds to the one on the sticker affixed to the back of the card (my 1350B has 933697). If these numbers correspond to the actual number of SB 2.0 made, then perhaps the lower numbers went into the old-style box, unless anyone has evidence showing otherwise.

I'm pretty sure CT1350's were sold with the old box art. Remember that Sound Blaster 2.0's were introduced at the same time the Sound Blaster Pro was, and by that time only the old box art style was being used. The Sound Blaster Pro's used a similar style. Even some Sound Blaster Pro 2's were sold with the older Sound Blaster Pro box style i think.

Thanks. Below is a link to a photo of the SB Pro 2 with box. Very similar box style.

I just remembered that I have a NIB SB Pro 2 with the blue-and-yellow box. Sure enough, there is a sticker on it that begins with "1600." So, the blue-and-yellow box began with the SB Pro 2 and not the SB 2.0.

The 2.0 could also be found with the newer style orange/blue box. Creative sold it as a budget sound card for quite a few years.

Thanks. I forgot that old and current models could be marketed at the same time.

I can attest to this, as I own both a CT1320C and CT1350 both in boxes.

Their boxes appear identical overall, but only the 1350 has the sticker (and serial number) of the card that went inside.

Also, it is to be noted that the the color 'hue' of the boxes changed with time.
On older boxes, the SOUND BLASTER metallic logo is clearly blue and gray, whereas recent boxes the blue is fainter and looks more like a faded purple (similar to the Vogons theme).

Left : CT1320 (Blue-ish logo, no model number, no serial number)
Right : CT1350 (Faded purple-ish logo, model number, serial number)

The more sound cards, the better.

For whatever it's worth, and just to add to the box examples:

This is one of the older CT1330A Sound Blaster Pro version 1 cards. I'm pretty sure this was bought in 1992.
The box just says "1330" but the card that came in it is marked 1330A. I assume the serial doesn't have any meaning in relation to the Sound Blaster 1.5/2.0 series of cards.
