Got this motherboard with Athlon64 3500+. Put PCI vga card and some DDR400 memory and tried to boot. Fan on CPU spins but nothing on the screen and no beeps.

1. changed the PSU for another 350W Noname. This time it boots but freezes in BIOS.
2. changed memory for another know working one... it doesn't post... but it does in a few retrys...
3. connected the USB CD-Rom and try to boot HIREN's boot cd. It boots and hangs on the menu... after switching more memory I got it to run memtest and it run for good 2 hours without a problem. Then I powered it off and on again... and again no post.

I checked the capacitors... all look good. I put the fan on the southbridge chip as it got really hot. I also managed to flash the bios to the latest. Temperature of the CPU is in the low 30stC. I also tried with a PCI-e card and no difference.

Now I'm out of ideas... there is something wrong and I can't find what!? 🙁

Is it time to give up? 😒

Can you post pictures of the capacitors, particularly the ones in the CPU VRM, and the ones near the memory slots?

I have a Gigabyte socket 939 SLI board that I could not get running.

I switched video cards, PSUs, memory and CPUs and in the end it posted like nothing had ever been wrong...
Im pretty sure the board is just messing with you.

The CPU I had in the socket when the board finally decided to post was a Sempron with a single memory stick.
Before I tried the Sempron It failed to post like 20+ times with different hardware.

For s939 I only have two Athlon64 3500+ cpus. I haven't switched them yet... probably the only thing I didn't try.

The board came as working and tested. Haven't contacted the seller yet, because I'd really like this to work 😈

The good news is that most of the caps around the board are Rubycon MBZ series.

The bad news is that the capacitors in the VRM are mostly KZG. It looks like one of them was already replaced with a Panasonic. You will need to replace -all- the KZG capacitors. They are what's causing the crashing.

Now I turned the motheboard around and it can be seen that 5 capacitors were already replaced. I should have checked this when I bought it - but it was late at night and raining. At least I payed "only" 10€ for the combo.

Yup, I thought so too since he used one Panasonic cap and one Nichicon in the VRM, but the rest are KZG.

You'll need some high quality replacements of both the 10mm 6.3V 3300uF caps and the 16V 1500uF caps.

If you know how to solder, send me a PM, maybe I can hook you up with what you need.
