Who remembers Packard Bell's mid-90's series of CRT monitors with the side mounted speakers?

Yeah, that thing. It's pretty late in the game to be asking where you find one now considering everyone has been culling CRT's for at least five years now but really, where do you think one might still be hiding? I still have that one machine here that's complete down to the registration card but I tossed the original monitor ten years ago (not the speakers) because running a CRT nearly non-stop for 15 years with no sleep mode tends to completely wear the cathode out. 🤣

Also, by odd chance, did anyone ever own one of their later LCD panels? Only ever seen one on a demo machine in Radio Shack 10 years ago. Could anyone even afford it back then?

My first PC was a PB 286 with a 14" .39DP VGA monitor and I could not wait to get rid of that thing when I upgraded to a 386.

I still have a few mid to late 90's CRTs around and they still look nice, none are PB branded. Gateway used to have some nice monitors in the mid 1990's.

Back in 2000 I was helping a friend clean his garage and saw one sitting in a corner; asked him about it and he said it was his dad's and hadn't been used in years. I asked my friend's father about the PB monitor and he said it wasn't working anymore (busted power supply) and was going to scrap it. Too bad. Haven't seen one since.

Ooohh, the pain......

I have one of those complete with speakers; it came with my P60 Legend 300CD. Last I checked, both the monitor and speakers worked fine.

Set up an alert on eBay and regularly trawl Craigslist. They pop up once in a while like anything else.

Craigslist has been setup in town and Vancouver but there's no way in high hell I'm paying shipping for one one on ebay. I might want one, but not that badly...

I used to have a PB monitor like the one in this picture:

The sound quality was amazing. It actually had a down-firing subwoofer mounted in the base.

I also had the monitor shown above on a Packard Bell 486 I had, but I really wasn't impressed at all by the sound quality. It was very tinny and the requirement of an additional DC power adapter was a little inconvenient as well.

I have one of the earlier models, I saw one of those mid 90's ones not too long ago but someone had clipped off the cable for the copper. 😒

I definitely regret throwing out my original Packard Bell and monitor back in 2008. Oh well we all make mistakes, at least I realized my mistake before it was too late to get my hands on another one.

I've come across a few earlier '93 models but they had various issues so I didn't keep them.

I had one like in the first post, some c**t (sorry, that is the ONLY fitting word) stole it. Find him and you might find a monitor... What I wouldn't give to find that monitor... Not that I want another one, it was just a monitor, but it was my monitor.
