I get the following error when trying to run aotp in dosbox 0.61.

the temporary file area specified does not exist or is not writeable.please run WIN SETUP to setup the temporary file area.

also I get a second dos box with the following error: warning: file creation failed: d:\oldgames\oldgames\aotp\btest.bin

I don't know, what's the game your talking about (don't expect everyone to know your acronyms), but try to set the environment variable TEMP inside dosbox to a folder, that exists, is reachable from dosbox and is writeable (e.g. set TEMP=C:\Temp)

the line WIN SETUP makes it a bit clearer I think.

I'm bored, so I'm browsing The Underdogs games, assuming that "ot" stands for "of the"... Could it be:
Aces of the Pacific?

I've never played that game...

indeed it was aces over the pacific, but I managed to get it to run using d-fend 😁

Go like this

Make sure your dosbox and game folder are installed in the root directory of your hard drive; most of the time its C:\

first step

Z:mount C C:\oldgames , (or whatever your folder is called).

second step
Z:C:

should change to
C:

third step

C:cd (whatever your game folder is called)

fourth step

C:\folder name\INSTALL.exe (or whatever your install file is)

Sometimes you have to install the bat file for it to work. Sometimes all you have to run is the executable. Hope this helps.
