I hope AMD doesn't split from ATi. As it is, we have a virtual duopoly in the x86 CPU market, and without ATi propping AMD up, AMD would probably just fade out and become another company producing low-power embedded CPUs, like VIA. Speaking of which, I think it would really be quite something if VIA partnered with Nvidia, and Nvidia used VIA's x86 license to produce its own line of CPUs and APUs. Nvidia has done x86 chipsets before, and they're currently making mobile CPUs under the Tegra moniker, so why don't they bring an x86 Tegra to the desktop space? I think it would be great, and it would provide the CPU market with some much-needed competition.
