Hi. I wonder if someone can help me.

I have an old Win 3.1 app titled "CS Lesson." Not a game, but rather a serious study app.

The installation executable is saved in my home directory (I use Linux) -- /home/jeff/Downloads.

How do I get to this file while Dosbox is running? I've tried using Wine, but it simply won't install an old app like this one.

Many thanks!

Have you been able to install other 16-bit Windows apps in Wine? 16-bit compatibility was broken for a little while at one point due to a kernel patch, but I understood it has since been fixed.

In any case, you can't run Windows 3.1 apps in DOSBox without first installing Windows 3.1 in DOSBox. See 60 seconds guide to getting your game to run in DOSBox and Windows 3.1x DOSBox Guide .

No, I haven't tried. I don't think I have any other apps to give it a try. Thanks.

Then you should probably find one. There's bound to be something shareware or freeware in the Wine compatibility database that you can use for testing.

If the aforementioned kernel thing is no longer a problem, Wine is definitely the way to go, especially if you don't have Windows 3.1 on hand already.
