Say you wanted to connect 1 gameport joystick to 4 computers - could you do it by getting a da15 dataswitch (e.g. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-JOYSWITCH-PC-MULTI … =item43de376315 ) and connecting it in reverse?

That is - each input to a gameport on a computer and the output gameport to a joystick.

I guess these types of switches are mechanical so nothing could possibly go wrong (except if you switched it while two computers were on)?

Any thoughts? Or better alternatives?

With a mechanical switch, it likely would work. I'd also be cautious about flipping it with the machines on though. If they're running Windows 2000 and above you may also try Input Director. I've never tried it with a joystick/controller though.
