I was bequeathed a number of miscellaneous cables recently, and I should probably get rid of them rather than pretend they might be useful someday. A major obstacle, however, is that I have no idea what some of them are. One in particular looks like it ought to work with an old Samsung phone I have sitting around, but it's a little too big – naturally, there is no identifying information on it anywhere, though it does have the two squeeze-points on each side, like my other Samsung cables.

I also have a couple of cables with what looks like a mini-USB connector on one end, but it's definitely not mini-USB, nor does it fit in the old Kodak camera I have on hand.

EDIT: Closer examination of the Samsung-ish cable reveals the letters "S4900", suggesting it's for a Fuji camera. Except Googling for <fuji s4900 usb cable> turns up http://www20.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photog … n-892865951.htm , which actually looks like the mini-USB thing.

Is there some field guide to these things out there somewhere? A bit of Googling got me nowhere.

Never saw a comprehensive list of non-standard cables. Never understood why manufacturers back then just skipped the USB-IF models and made some bizarre stuff aside from the fact that it could score then some more money on data cables (mobiles have earned this crown).
