Wandering through a neighborhood recently I found my supply of clutter considerably augmented. Among the prizes was an Acer Travelmate 507T laptop: Celeron 466, 128 MB of RAM, loaded up with Win98SE. Not unlike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj-nzTItGgg , one of the hinges is badly bashed and more bits of plastic cracked off when I closed it after testing. >_< Also, it powered off when I accidentally nudged the power connector. I guess this won't be particularly portable. (In fact, it's pretty tricky to get to to switch on at all, though it seems fine once it gets going.)

Graphics hardware is something called the NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD. DXDiag reports no hardware 3D acceleration, so I guess it's not that great for gaming. Screen looks pretty nice, though.

Does anyone else here know more about this unit? Is it good for anything in particular? And is the hinge repairable?
