I have just bought an used Creative X-Fi sound card - Xtreme Music SB0460.
What is interesting is that the COPYRIGHT text says : Copyright Creative Technology LTD 2003
And from what I know X-Fi was announced and made public in 2005. Any one have any info on this? Or did creative reuse an prototype PCB?

Here are some photoz - #1 #2 #3 #4

likely the same reason an athlon 64 says copyright 1999 or 2001 on it

Why would they write copyright 2003 if it wasn't engineered in 2003? Every single X Fi card I had was 2005+.

Products are not released the day they first begin design, and copyright/trademark law is screwy - it's not unusual to see copyright or trademark dates that predate the actual release of the product as a result. It's also very unlikely that card is some unicorn engineering sample or whatever - it has FCC/CE stickers. The "(C) 2003" looks to be correct for SB0460 based on results from Bing Images as well.

All chips that I can make out are marked 2007 and 2008 (Implying Creative's manufacturing is pretty crappy, nothing we didn't know already, why change the habit of a lifetime?) meaning your particular card was made, at the earliest, somewhere into 2008.
