Almost first Sierra's adventure game Black Cauldron had almost point & click interface (F3/F4 - pocket, F6 - do, F8 - look).
Anyone knows why their later adventure games still required typing in text?

Anyone knows why their later adventure games still required typing in text?
The hot keys were a consideration for children, which was the same consideration with even earlier games like the Gelfling Adventure and Troll's Tale where the user only had to use the cursor keys to use the dialog tree. Even the parser AGI and SCI0 games had some keyboard shortcuts for some verbs. Many of the SCI0 games used the right click for look. Many of the designers preferred the parser interface and were not happy when Ken said they had to use the P&C interface with move to SCI1.
Heh. It's interesting that an interface designed for children (read- easier) became more or less the norm for all of Sierra after a certain point...
