Did anyone did this yet? Because the game is very sensitive to dosbox cycles, so the same setting will not work for both modes... and the fullscreen one is obviously superior.

Pity about the lack of amiga music too *grumble*

The question is not clear. Is this a DOSBox problem, or a Populous 2 problem? Because starting DOSBox in fullscreen is trivial.

Nah it's actually a hope that someone already hacked the executable so that whenever you start a level the 'fullscreen mode' of the game itself starts on (the option is only available after starting a level). As was mentioned the game is so cycle sensitive that trying to make it work on both is a exercise in futility so i might as well start with the best and not have little dudes zipping around at 200 km/s meanwhile.

If you're going to use an emulator anyway (since you mentioned about DOSBox' cycle setting, why not just run th Amiga version in an emulator?

The pc version has a high resolution mode switch /h

BTW, i could say the exact same thing for a 'start in high resolution' mode when starting a mission for other two games:
syndicate wars and magic carpet 2.

Those require pressing a key in mission (F8 in Syndicate Wars, F6 in Magic Carpet 2) to turn to the high resolution mode.
But really this is just a nitpick, there are probably much better hacks to do.

For instance that 'look for other cd in another drive' thing for World of Xeen would be grand because cd switching really sucks.
