I had an install of Win95 inside Dosbox with Voodoo 1 and Daemon Tools.

I used many dosbox versions to test... Daum, X, Dosbox-g..

All work more or less good and the games where playable.

Now after month later, i tryed i new installation with the newest versions..
Win95 installs fine in DosboxDaum.. and runs very stable.

But i can't get daemon tools 3.47 to work anymore.
This is the version i used before.

Every time i open a image file in daemon tools , windows 9x freezes.
Tryed it so much times with different setting...
installed 9x over 30 times the last days, but daemon tools crashed at the moment it opens a image file.

even with using the same dosbox version i used a few month ago. Daum 2013may.

I don't know what happend, Dosbox Daum 2014 Jan 27. and 2015 Jan 25 worked for sure...
but now i am not able to reproduce the install..

Please help me... what i am doing wrong?
Some setting wrong in dosbox.conf? or do i need a special update for a clean win9x install?

that drive me nuts.

The other day I tried to get Daemon Tools working in Win95A, and it refused to install. 😜 There's no way I was going to install the stupid IE4 shell it wanted either.

ie4 or ie5.5 installs fine here.

Ie4 with no error, ie 5.5 one error but it continues install.

Usb update also installs fine, with no error.

daemon tool installs also with no error.

but when opening a image, or when deinstalling daemon tools, win9x freezes... like it can't read/write to HDD anymore.

Can somebody confirm that DT3.47 freezes win95?

or that it works?

I am sure you are aware that the official DOSBox does not support Win9x. These forums are for official DOSBox and possibly plain vanilla SVN. Current Daum is broken and ykhwong has not been around. Either use an old version of ykhwong's or try DOSBox-X.

i don't know where my misstake is..

everything installs fine, no error, no crashes, no page faults.

but when using daemon tools it crashes.

can it be that i use "vgaonly" instead of "svga_s3" during install , makes the problem?

Tertz, do you use DT in a win9x installation under Dosbox?

when yes, which dosbox version, and do you use some special versions during install? or change something in dosbox.conf?

Yes. Win95b (not English) with DT. Daum 2014-01-27

do you use some special versions during install?

Win install was done by other man and probably not in DOSBox. I added DT in it.

By the link in previous message you may find a variant of installation procedure for Win95b with DT. Also there is a variant of Win95a with other CD emulator, may to work for Win95b with DT too.

I have Win95c german.

I install win95c, ie4, Windows installer update, USB-Support, Daemon Tools.

Restart after each Patch/Programm.

Then i open Daemon Tools, select an Iso, click ok.
2 Seconds later win9x freezes.

95c has IE4 and USB
you may try 95b anyway by the methods above, if problems with 95c will stay

i have only Win95C.

yes, IE4 installs at last by the setup Process..

But USB is missing, daemon tools will not install without patch.

But i found another solution... dosbox emulates the idecontroller and CD rom so perfect, that it is recognized by win95.
So all i have to do is imgmount a Iso and then boot win95.
Daemon Tools not needed.

BTW:
I found out, that Daemon Tools works:
When i install daemon Tools it wants to reboot to complete installation... and after reboot it works... only in that session, as long i don't reboot the win95.

After rebooting DT freezes..
the only way to get it working again is to restore the image of the win95 installation to a point where DT was not installed.

i tested it 3 times: image restored, DT installed, reboot by DT, DT works, reboot, DT works no longer.

or:
image restored, DT installed, reboot by DT, DT not used/tested, reboot, DT works not.

So DT will only work in the session when it's reboot the pc to complete installation. After a reboot it is broken. Uninstalling/reinstalling will not help.

It's remediably. As 'b' is more common for DOSBox, I suppose 'c' may to have more problems.

Daemon Tools not needed

It's useful for some games as supports nrg, mdf, etc.
