The video here pretty much describes it: http://youtu.be/CrSt0wMfq9k

But if I have a Voodoo 1 in my Pentium Pro machine, after about 5-10 minutes the image starts having vertical lines going through the image and it makes the system very unusable. Is there anyway to fix this?

What drivers are you using?

It happens everywhere, so I assume this wouldn't matter. I am just installing W98 though.

My second guess, is that it has something to do with some timings or something.
Wich is something that I have no real experience in.

Meanwhile. Try the latest official drivers found here: http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo1.htm
And try the IceMAN too. Just to rule driver issues out.

It might be my scaling on my monitor though, as only lines show if I set my resolution decently high in Windows 98. The video is processing.

Ohhh.... Bummer. Looks like the V1 is taking in some interferance from other components.
Or it is simply in the process of dying. Can't help you on this one. Hope others here at Vogons have some answers to what's going on.

First off, can't see the video as it is set as private.

Secondly, could you try the card on another system, preferably on another case + power supply and with as few add-on cards as possible? If it persists doing the same thing, it might indeed be dying 🙁.

Try viewing it now. And the issue hasen't happened for an hour so it might be fixed.

Nope, still happening 😒 but 3D mode works correctly. And the 2D card works fine by itself. So it may be the passthrough cable?

Can't really tell much since the camera is moving too much, however the picture illustrates the problem just fine. It's probably the passthrough cable if the cards work fine by themselves. They are dirt cheap to pick up new, so you could give that a try or just swap the cable everytime you want to use 3D.

I remember building a computer on my test bench, and when the disc drive was spinning up, I would get these wavy distortions on the screen. I would swap around all the parts and see if anything changes.

Possibly oxidization on vga connectors on the card. Could also be the cable itself.

Worst case could be that the Diamond Monster 3D used electrolytic capacitors and are failing. I had to recap one of my Monster 3D cards that was wonky. One test could be take the card out and smell it, if it smells like fish then the caps need replaced. Otherwise one would need to use a ESR meter on each cap out of circuit to see if they are failing.

I played Quake fine using the CD tracks with it. So i'll just get another Passthrough cable sometime.

Try testing with a normal monitor cable first. You only need it to have all 15 legs and need to have female in one end and male in the other.
Shure the length has something to say, just not this much interferance should arise. If the cable is 1 meter in length, it should be ok for testing.
After that, you can go out and buy another cable. 15 centimeters should be ok.

Yeah, I played Quake fine for about an hour and Blood on the ET6000 fine for about half an hour by plugging directly into them.
