Hello,

I have two of those Promise SATA 150 TX2 Plus pci controller boards.. One of them i have a problem with..

The good version is missing JP2 connector and uses assy no 0218-05 REV 5.. Its got bios program 1.00.0.33 version inside..
It boots directly with and IDE harddisk connected..

The called bad version, have that JP2 connector and uses assy no 0218-01 REV 5 Its got bios program 1.00.0.30 version inside..
This controllers asks all of the time to make a raid array.. It wont boot it self without pressing ESC key.

They problem is, that i want to upgrade the bios version of the bad card..

I have tried to find the flash program.. It seems it was included with the flash rom..

Iam tried to get version 1.00.0.33 inside the bad card.. The included TXT file mentioned about 3 options:

Flashing, Saving rom, or erase rom.. But when i typing pflash /? i only getting an option to flash it.. It seems the pflash /s backup.bin doesnt seems to work.. I think this is because the flash program doesnt regconize this comment.

I think that only the option flash would work.. When i trying flashing my bad card i get this message:

************************** Pflash Memory Utility V2.00.0.8*************************************

Controller NOT FOUND!

I like to know what is happing...

I thought that maybe the PCI 2.1 version of my pentium 1 motherboard would be the problem..
So i switched it to my pentium III class machine with the PCI 2.2 standard, but that wouldnt solve the problem..

Does anybody knows maybe why the program says that the controller is not found.. Is there any way to force it?

Are you trying to use a non-FastTrack BIOS on the FastTrack card? That might not be allowed.

I never had the SATA versions, but I remember on the ATA100 FastTraks this was an issue. There was some minor hardware mod that would change the card from a "normal" Ultra100 to a FastTrak100, and vice versa. The hardware had to be the right type to use that version of the BIOS.
People used to hack the "normal" cards to FastTraks to save money, but they had to do the hardware mod for it to work.
