I have this Asus v9520/TD card, wich is an FX5200 card. Have anyone tried this card, and want to share some info on it?

It's a FX5200. I think that says it all, really. A benchmark against other FX5200s probably will be the only thing to distinguish it.

Yeah. It has some large cooler, so I just thought if it was like running on higher clock frequencies or being more stable than other 5200's or something. It is one of these coolers, that it has.... Not that I expect anything special or something like that.

I doubt it will ever be much of a powerhouse with that cooler, but with the addition of a better cooler you could likely overclock it a bit. I have a 5200 or two sitting around my garage--one of these days I'll use one of them to experiment.

Are you using this card? If so, which motherboard are you running it on?

Think of it as a nice card for D3D 5-7 games.

The cooler's nothing special. Just a cheap stamped thing with minimal surface area, copper-wannabe coloring and a cheapie fan for exciting sales-enhancing aesthetics. I'd probably try running it with the fan unplugged. 😀

After some test's and temporary build's, using this card. I have come to the conclusion, that it is not really for me.
Too many issues like stuff not being shown propperly and some of my motherboards does not run with it at all.
That being mainly Intel P3 motherboards. So, I am sticking to Radeon for highend Win98se cards in the future.

So now. Eighter I sell it, or I scavange it for the cooler. What do people say? Sell or scavange?
And what could this be worth, if any at all?

What driver version did you use with it? You should use 45.23 or 43.45.

Those too.... What it showed was a thin vertical line of mismatching and different colors in the left of the screen.
When I played UT99... NFS-Porsche had even worse menutext's than on a GF4 or Radeon-9XXX-Series of cards.
So yeah... Not for need's of mine, this card is. I am shure it is ok, with xp gaming and BF-1942 though.

The cooler should be universal with other Geforce4 and FX series cards, so if you have something else with a wimpy passive cooler you could swap it out 😀 otherwise just toss it, fx5200's are a dime a dozen.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Well... The cooler on my GF2-MX440 64mb are running like an old lady, with zombies on her back.
Screaming and slow. 😁

Funny you should mention that, I just swapped the cooler from a GF2-mx440 onto an old 32mb Radeon card and noticed the same thing! If you can swap it the Fx5200 cooler/fan would be a great upgrade for that card

One more activity for the future. Not on the top of the list though. 😀

Just get these cheap eBay coolers. They are basically inaudible. I use a FX5200 in my main DOS time machine, A Pentium 100, because it's one of the few cards that clones the image on VGA and DVI. I use this for capturing 😀

I know those coolers can be found cheap, and stuff like that.
It's just that, well you know it, that our purpouse's and need's are way different. Users in between here at Vogons.
So actually. I have a Cirrus-Logic 5446 sitting inside my P133. It's not a perfect sollution.
Though... My choice of this is that I used CL cards exclusively back in the first half of the 90's and I have fun
memories of this brand in general. It gives that sort of retro-feel I am going for in pre-P2 systems.
(in pre-486 system's, I would go for Tseng ET-4000 cards exclusively)

And well. My needs for a FX in this machine is zero. As I do not shoot videos. It might change in the future, though.
