Windows 98: Monitor going out of sync coming back from games

About half of the time, when returning to Windows 98 from a DOS game the monitor looses Sync.
I've tested this with two monitors (one being purchased from last year, and my old 14" LCD)
I'm starting to suspect video card (S3 Virge 375) or drivers issue.

I've got a Voodoo3 card on the way, but it's at least a week away.

Has anyone one else seen issues like this caused by other factors?

What is the refresh rate set in the advanced display properties. Try setting it to a fixed value.

Is this restricted to any particular desktop resolution?

EDIT: Also, you could try flashing a different BIOS version.

Traded the card out for the expected Voodoo3 card tonight. Problem appears to have been solved.
