I recently acquired a Diamond Monster MIDI daughterboard. It is the Rev. C / 4MB model with the Dream SAM9733 synth (image linked from C. Kersten's page).
I hooked it up to my TB Montego II Quadzilla (Vortex 2), and I like being able to boot into pure DOS mode and use the GM from the Diamond for music and the SB Pro emulation from the Vortex 2 for digital effects.
I'm curious which sound standards this card can handle. Obviously, there's GM, but I noticed a couple of other things.
1. This card can do MT-32. I'm not sure if this is emulation or the real thing, but the music sounds pretty close to my real MT-32. Is this common among MIDI daughterboards?
2. When I do the sound setup on Duke 3D, I can use the "General Midi" or the "Sound Canvas" setting. Both sound about the same. Should there be any difference?
