A coffee mug. To use them as cup holders. Very rare to Have to matching gpu cup holders.

But honestly an old 775/1366 build would work with them. Like an old 680i motherboard. Then the original 2007 crysis.

Came out in '05. CPU of the day was the Athlon FX-57. A 45w low power equivalent would be an athlon le 1640 2.6Ghz 1MB oc to 2.8, there are 512k l2 versions with the same name so you have to be to get the 1mb l2 for a match. Of course, the 7800 gtx 512 is nearly spec match of the '06 7900 gtx, '06 saw the introduction of the core 2 duo, x6800, though for a c2d rig I would totally do a xeon 771 to 775 route like the x5460 or one of the low voltage versions like the l5430. Another alternative for the fx-57 would be the athlon x2 6400+, dual core version /w matching 1mb l2 clocked at 3.2. For a piv route it'd be a piv ee 3.73 for me, since it's unlocked for underclocking and top end, it also came out in '05.

Build an XP machine, using something in the range of Athlon64/P4-3ghz-775 or faster.
Perhaps go for something that was in the top range in late 05 and early 06.
Should give you plenty of choices.

maybe a nice 939 SLI board and an FX57? Or howabout cheating slightly and using an M2N SLI and an Athlon 64 4000+ AM2 cpu?

4000+ am2 is slower than an FX-57.

yes but an M2N SLI is alot easier to find in good working shape than a good quality 939 SLI board, I was also thinking maybe of using an X2 6400 and simply tell XP to only use one core?

How about an Asus A8N-Sli-Premium?

As I already suggested, an Athlon 64 LE-1640 clocked to 2.8 is the same as an FX-57 but less than half the power usage, it's an AM2 chip. x2 6400+ is another way to go with the trade off of 125w tdp instead of 45w, faster than an fx-57 at 3.2 stock, also am2. Either of these is a better option than the 4000+ for an a64 setup in my view.

Man I would have thrown those on a i5/i7 build just to see much one can squeeze out of those rare gems 😉

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

That's not a problem, CPUs down clock to 800 to 1600 MHz.

OC the integrated HD 4600 GPU on the 4770/4790k by 15% and you have your answer, and now the current integrated GPUs have moved up to the 8800 ultra & GTX 285 level. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-gr … iew,3107-7.html

If Intel stuck those integrated GPUs into their lower end CPUs, then we would have a good alternative to AMD's APUs. 😉

The biggest problem is intel dropped xp driver support, though there maybe some hd4600 xp drivers if I recall that they put out because of the embedded market.

Why would you do that? XP runs perfectly well with multi-core processors.

Am I the only one who thinks it's stupid that these use exactly the same naming scheme as AMD/ATI cards, only a few years behind?

That's not really an explanation for crippling a system 🤣

Either use the _right_ single core processor or run your dual core as a dual core.
