Hi,

I worked with DOS years ago on a WIN95 machine, but using dosbox now is really turning my brain to mush. I know it'll come back if I keep at it, but for now....help?

I read the dosbox.com wiki page http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_and_In … ation_of_DosBox on this subject, but I still have a question on how to do it. I'm running Vista 64 and recently installed DOSBox v0.74. The instructions say: For version 0.73 go to Start Menu and click on "Configuration" and then "Edit Configuration". Then scroll down to the very end, and add these lines:

MOUNT C C:\OLDGAMES (assuming this is where I have my "oldgames" folder)
C:

I'm not seeing "Configuration" etc., on my Start Menu anywhere. It is talking about the Windows Start Menu, correct? Here is a screen capture of my question:

The attachment DOSBox config.jpg is no longer available

Don't bother with the configuration in the Start Menu. It has been known to make a mess.

The dosbox-0.74.conf file is found in
C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Local\DOSBox\

Edit the dosbox-0.74.conf file with notepad.
Add your Mount lines to the end of the dosbox-0.74.conf file.

In future, you should ask questions about DOSBox in the DOSBox subforum, not the DOS subforum.

Yes, please do use the Dosbox forums in the future, I'm moving this topic now.

As for the start menu, you need to open the Dosbox folder in the start menu, I *think* starting with Vista, Windows doesn't show all items in the start menu right at once but you need to click "show me all" or something like that.

Thanks for the info, skitters and Dominus. Sorry about posting this to the wrong forum. I thought I had gone to the DOSBox sub-forum, but obviously not! Cheers!
