Poll: Does This NEW Logo Look Good?

Okay, here's a pretty abstract potential OpenGLide logo I made. If it's just too out there to make any kind of logical sense, my thought is that I could leave custom O and then type the rest in some font or another.

Oh, This may look better after I do some T&L stuff to it, so don't think this is totally final. (And yes, that IS an alpha channel, so if it doesn't look right, it's your browser. upgrade. now.)

[edit: deleted the logo, see the new one 😀]

Yes, it’s my fault.

I'm really having too much fun with this, especially since I'm thinking that this will probably end up being just the arrow'd O.

I don't suppose any Photoshop gurus can tell me how to smooth the jagged edges while I'm drawing/after I've drawn with my drawing pad?

You mean there's a word in there? Heh. No, it seems fine except that you know there's going to be a need for a "shrunk down" version. I don't think the image will stay "intact" if you shrink it much, due to it's complexity.

Oh, shut up. The "n" in Open doubles as the "L" in GLide. To be made smaller, I figure I can just use the "O" (as it is, by far, the coolest part of the whole thing 😄) as the logo.

Initially the "ide" in GLide looked like an eye with shock marks... then it looked like a snail with little speed lines behind it... I decided that it would be a bad idea to make it look like a snail. ("Run this! It's as fast as a snail!") Although, I suppose, for some people, that's probably true... 😒

My biggest problem was the G, by far. I still think it looks really cocked up [nmiaow]*. But, oh well. I'm getting a headache. It's almost 4AM. I'm really goddamn tired, and I've spent the majority of my evening reading stuff on this CRT. My arse hurts, too. Stupid foam padding in this chair didn't stay plump for even a year!!

* I'm only saying this once. [nmiaow] stands for Not Meant In Any Obscene Way.

Yes, it’s my fault.

I don't much care for it, but would prefer a variation on the OpenGL/3dfx logos. Or combine them somehow. However, I'm aesthetically challenged and admit it freely. 😀

Having thought about this some more, I like my idea better, but lack the artistic talent to create it. How about "Open" as the OpenGL logo style, and "Glide" as the 3dfx style?

Yeah, I thought about combining them, but it's an insanely difficult thing to do...*sigh*

I wouldn't say that...
1. Take "Open" from "OpenGL".
2. Either:
a. determine the font used in the 3dfx logo and write the word "Glide" or
b. create the word "Glide" by cutting-and-pasting letters and fragments of letters from the 3dfx logo.

I'm thinking - tail end of the final "e" in "Glide" goes up into the orange swoop thingy, comes back down at "l" or "G"... hmm...

I know you can do it, Colin...

Ineresting that Fabio or Paul hasn't posted here... 😉

... and you don't have to use the graphics I found, BTW... if you find better/larger ones, you can use that. 😀

Trust me, I've tried finding larger versions. That OGL font is just Arial, I think, heh . . .
not sure why you'd want to use that, though. It's pretty ugly. I still like my O. 😉

Good? I need to tweak the swoosh a little more, and add some text under the arrow, but I gotta sleep. Before that, however, I wanted to get this up. I've reset the poll. Vote on THIS one. 😀

Looks good, and it should survive "shrinkage".

It had better survive shrinkage -- it's all vector-based.
You all know the default blue colour that Windows 2000 uses, right? I was thinking of using that and some other things. I'm just wondering how (if) it would be possible to merge this onto one layer so it wouldn't look all convoluted.

Okay, here's the logo with some nifty stuff I've done to it. 😀 Later, after it starts working better than eVoodoo, I get to add "world's best". 😀

It'll, err, be on a blue background, so don't mind the inner shadow colour. 😀
