I got yesterday a bag with old video cards and there was a Voodoo 3000 card. After careful inspection, I found out that there may be one capacitor missing from. Can anyone confirm if the capacitor is missing from this card? It's the C41 capacitor place next to the pin row. Also C40 is missing, but it looks like it's on purpose.

Another question: should this video card have some fan on the 3dfx chip? There are two holes for mounting some cooling system at least.

It looks like it's missing. But the card might work fine even without it. I've seen many cards with missing one of the capacitors on the right side of the card (C95, C98, C101) and working just fine.

C41 is 10uF and 16v.
.
I would not use a card missing the capacitors down the right side.
Those are there to keep EMI out of the video RAM.

I have two V3 3000 missing one capacitor on the right (one C95 and the other C101). No problem at all for many years... at least what I can see 😉

According to this information here, I will try some day to solder a new capacitor on the video card. I have never soldered anything like this before, so I have to try with some other board first.

But did this video card originally have some cooling fan or heat sink that is removed? Or did this model come without any?

Ok. If this video card has been used without a heat sink, could it have been damaged? I'm just asking, so I would know if it is worth trying to fix it.

Yes it could have been damaged but you won't know unless you try it.
The TDP is only like 11 watts so there's a good chance it's okay.

Just use the reflow technology, when attaching a new cap'
For the missing heatsink, you can use whatever you want.
Most V3 users are attaching a 60mm fan on top of the heatsink anyway.
