SciTech recently added a decent online forum! (Ikonboard)
http://www.scitechsoft.com/cgi-bin/ikonB/ikon … d2363a94a08ffff

Their newsgroups still exist:

news://news.scitechsoft.com/scitech.display.doctor.dos
news://news.scitechsoft.com/scitech.display.doctor.os2
news://news.scitechsoft.com/scitech.display.doctor.windows
news://news.scitechsoft.com/scitech.display.doctor.linux
...etc...

But they got rid of their newsgroups that supported the beta's.

...etc...

Furthermore, GLDirect 3.0 was released a few days ago (their fairly-old OpenGL-to-Direct3D "wrapper")

Enjoy.

Why would anyone EVER want to convert OpenGL to Direct3D? I mean, D3D is a piece of shit compared to OGL. My god. 😉

In any case, I've never had good results with Scitech. That said, I've only tried the Scitech Display Doctor and their UNIVBE configurator, but they've both not worked for me. At all. Period. Ever. Even when I was still using an old STB card (I can't even remember the name, it had something like 4MB VRAM and came preloaded on an old Dell P2 266MHz).

Has ANYONE ever been successful with UNIVBE? I've never ever ever been able to get it to work.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Hmmm, that STB card may have had Vesa 2.0 integrated which if so if you were using SDD 6+ (has Vesa 3.0) you wouldn't have seen much of a difference at all. I'm thinking Power Management was the only big diff. The major thing to come with SDD 6 was the Winders ver and the 9x video drivers for cards that had terrible drivers. Yep, if your card had 4mb of ram and I can pretty much guarantee it had Vesa 2.0

Also the screen alignment/refresh rate programs was pretty neat and the benchmark prog.

If you were using an OLD video card withh > V2.0 then SDD kicked @$$. If < then there wasn't much of a point.

As far as SDD in NT? There is no point as far as I can see. I haven't been able to get the DOS ver to work at all in NTVDM. It would be neat if Scitech would do some research and enable some more VESA modes in NT if they could. That would definetly boost their sales quite a bit.
