Hi,
Before I go post all of these things on amibay. I am not sure how much to ask or what the going price is on this stuff. Can someone help with giving me a value.. I dont want to waste time on items that no one would want. Here is the first batch of components I have gone through. For example. I cant imagine anyone that would be interested in a fax/modem 🤣

Mostly looks like $5/10 items. Real value is usually in early ISA sound cards and high end VGAs.

Also, you're better off also listing the main chip on those cards. I mean, what is a "mpb-000063 magitronic a-s86003 isa -1"? It would be useful to know the chip it is based on and if it has true OPL or a wavetable header. Or that the "S3 Genoa Phantom" is an S3 Virge PCI card. Or what kind of Voodoo is that "stb 3dfx 210-0384-003 v33416".

Fair enough on the assessment peter. I thought it may be interesting to mention tho that these creative labs sound cards worked better in windows than the isa ones. and they also have direct dos drivers. Further, I think most of the video cards were high end and included both windows and dos drivers. I benchmarked the cards over the years and they were top. at least my all in wonder benched really high. the s3s were prety fast and the tseng 4000 were the best for there time. at least in my opinion. 😀 PLus everyone know about the 784 meg limit in windows 98se and the fix that you have to make in the system ini file to get up to 784?

Theres several different variants of the Pentium 3 1000MHz chip (most important differences are the Coppermine or Tualatin ones) and some of the Coppermine chips may have a heatspreader on the chip (this is important as it will require some extra effort to mount a cooler without the cooler snapping off the socket hook thingies due to excessive force).
And make it a habit to include good quality pics of all the stuff you have for sale.

Sometimes chips may be identical in function, but one may be a common SSPEC and another may be very rare. This can also increase (or decrease) it's value.

Whats missing in your collections?

Pentium III / 4 stuff usually has very low value: there is a lot of that stuff out there (for free).

I know the GF2 MX isn't high end nor uncommon, and the Voodoo3 AGP is also pretty common (the PCI one commands higher prices). Also beware that many PCI graphics cards won't command a premium. S3 PCI cards are nothing to write home about (good and fast for DOS, though, but too common and many of them have dodgy image quality), TSENG would get higher prices in VLB cards but I doubt they do in PCI variants. Trident PCI cards are also cheap.'

Also potential buyers should not have to google each card to even know what the GPU is. What is the matrox 576-05 compaq243136-001? A Millenium? A Mystique? For some cards the easier way to identify them (without removing heatsinks) is to plug them into a PC and get their vendor+hardware ID. Also this would be a good oportunity to test them - untested hardware is a tough sell unless it is something very rare or you sell them for cheap. And by tested I mean more than just getting it to POST.

Oh, and for hardware that is hard for people to want (like internal modems), you can try selling them as a bundle.

In this case bundling the whole thing may be your best bet. Good luck! 😀
