Hi guys. I built a socket 939 system using a geforce 6800 AGP and I can't seem to get hardware acceleration (gpu acceleration?) to work in google chrome or opera... It works fine on a PCI-E 6600GT, as well as on my AGP x1950xt.

I've tried Forceware 84.21 as well as the latest windows XP driver - 303.something - same result. Any ideas?

NV43 (GeForce 6600GT PCIe) is a newer core than NV40 (GeForce 6800 AGP), so I wouldn't be surprised if the 6800 doesn't support it correctly.

Crap. And I can't find proper win98 drivers for my x1950xt... There were some modded drivers around somewhere but I can't seem to find them anymore...

I wonder if it's somehow just an XP thing?

One of my computers is similar to yours - S939 A64 3700+ @ 2.8GHz, 6800GT AGP, NF3 chipset - except it's running Win7. Chrome seems to be properly accelerated. Nice, smooth scrolling, YouTube HTML5 works fine at 720p fullscreen, and performance with HTML5 animation is relatively smooth as well.

I don't use XP much anymore, but I do recall that the last time I dual-booted this machine, Internet browsers definitely seemed to perform a little better under Win7.
