Hey guys! Just a quick question!
I have an old ECS G220 Pentium M laptop that came with 256MB or DDR333 RAM. To max it out, I bought a 1GB DDR333 stick, a Kingstom KVR333X64SC25/1GB (the old one is a KVR333X64SC25/256). For some reason this thing fails to even get to Grub with that module... I did get it to boot once, but the laptop simply turned off after a while and would show no signs of life until I put the old stick back... after which I get it to POST with the new module again (weird oO). Does anyone have any idea of what this might be (save from a defective module... unfortunately I have no suitable machine to test this with, as this is the only laptop I have that takes this type of memory).
I also spotted four dip switches near the RAM that I have no idea what they are for, and could not find the service manual for this machine (the User Manual has nothing). Does anyone know what this is?
For now I'm trying to mess with modding the BIOS to see if I can get it to show more memory options, so perhaps I could try relaxing timings and such to make it like the new RAM.
Thanks!
