I'm having a problem with a motherboard I rescued from the dump. It's acting errating - sometimes it boots normally and sometimes I get just a blank screen. The ratio is about 30-70 with the board not working most of the time. If I remove RAM or video card, it always beeps. What could be the problem?

The original battery hasn't leaked much. In fact, I can't see any corrosing on the motherboard itself and the old battery has been replaced with a new one.

Try different memory/video card. Put the card in different ISA slots... there could be just bad contacts or compatibility problems. Sometimes boards could be bad - they are 20+ years old after all.
