So I been tossing around the idea of putting a nic in my PC. Having a nic will make it alot simpler to get data on it.
But I don't like the idea of having to use a old web browser. If I were to do this I would need to compile a newer web browser such as firefox for it.
it's not so much windows 2000 that's the problem but the fact that it's a P3 system and most if not all newer web browsers use sse2 and or are built for newer hardware. Unless someone has a good idea for a newer web browser I can use on the system. I'll need to compile something newer for the system and I don't know were to start with that on a windows system. Can I just download something like a windows port of GCC and a source code or do I need to do something different?

EDIT:
would I just be better off using something like dillo ?

Firefox still issues updates for non-SSE2 CPUs, like a PIII running XP. Any tricks you can do to get the latest Firefox running on W2K?

I did not know that. still slow as hell. I know on Linux system if you compile the web browser for your hardware it's a lot better if you have a old system.
