Been searching for solutions to cool drives. And I think this is the best I can get for the price.
It looks awesomme, with that alu heatsink. The price seems fair too.
The equivelant of about 21.33 US Dollars including shipping.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

If I'm not mistaken 16-bit ISA can do up to 8.3 MB/s so the drive only getting 1.7 MB/s though makes it seem like something is wrong.
It's been a long time since I did anything significant with ISA so I could be all wrong. - Just doesn't seem right, that's all.
.

Hmmm.... Do you have a link to a good website, explaining how to set it up.
This way I can cross-check if I have done anything wrong.

Like I said it's been a long time since I did anything significant with ISA.
By asking I was hoping to trigger the minds of people with more recent experience.
.
Just seems that a drive with a head-disk transfer rate (aka media transfer rate) faster than the bus would quickly saturate the bus.

My experience with that model wasn't too good. It relies upon good contact between HDD and heatsink, much like the contact area between CPU and heatsink. If the top of your HDD is not completely flat, you too may experience less than optimal results.

The various HDD cooling solutions that cool the bottom of the drive should be more than sufficient.

(My 10,000 RPM drive required cooling from both the bottom and the top to make it happy)

you people are WAY over-complicating this issue.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Which part is complicated?
Putting a fan on it?
Switching to an appropriate drive?
Or answering the question?
