Just don't.
Dosbox is made for games, other programs might work fine but if you want to use mission critical stuff - don't do it.

This conversation happens over and over here. Last time was no more than 2 days ago about some other app in DOSBox.
There are DOSBox-like programs intended for apps.
Some were mentioned in that other tread, the one opened within the last 2 days.
I'm not into that stuff so I can't remember specifics. I just glanced over it.
If you can find that thread there will be some useful info.
.
I agree with Dominus that VmWare or VirtualBox would be worth checking out.
Those have been around a while and are probably more polished than some of the others.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdos/ - Vdos is geared more to the non-gaming applications.

The other alternative being to run a full DOS under VMware/Virtualbox - MS-DOS if you have it available, or maybe FreeDos or Caldera/DRDOS

The main drawback of DOSbox for serious software, is the lack of SHARE support - it can be faked to fix things that grumble, but the moment something actually NEEDS SHARE to handle locking, bad things are likely to happen.
