Hi guys. I tough you might enjoy some midi in-game audio recorded from my Yamaha SW20-PC. So far I have Doom e1m1 and Duke3D theme song and a little Secret of Monkey island. I recorded everything drought my laptop's mic-in directly from the yamaha's spk-out. MP3 files created with Audacity.

heh, seems you've really taken a shine for the SW20-PC , it inspired me to install mine in my 386DX build 🤣

Maybe there is a way to change to MT-32 emulation mode? not sure there is one though... the manual says nothing as far as I can see.
I am attaching a zip with 2 test .BAT files, run one and try Monkey Island to see if it changes anything with midi playback. Then the other, maybe one works or something...

It's... different. OPL3 music sounds different from sound blaster or YMF71x boards. Wavetable music is deep, clear and bassy, the drum kit is awesome and it has some really cool stereo effects I haven't heard in MIDI before. Also, considering the only wavetable boards I have are creative (AWE32 and AWE64), I'm excited about something a little different. I don't have anything fancy like an MT32 or SC55, but I'm planning to get one right after I find a Voodoo 5.

I edited my post above, maybe one of the BAT files in the attachment works for mt-32 emulation... certainly worth a try 😁

Ok so I ran the bat files and they both do more or less the same thing - witch is replace the standard soundfonts with some funny rumba or whatever like ones.

Here's a video with me messing around with the card in Duke3D on a 550MHz K6-2 / 128MB ram / Matrox Millenium II 8MB / Jetway VIA MVP3 : https://youtu.be/ILLRyE2y7MM

It does. The driver comes on 4 floppy disks and you can install it from DOS (it also installs the windows driver). So far I tested it on win95 and it works great. You can find the disks on the vogons driver library -> http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?file … 344&menustate=0

So you ran a .bat and then Monkey Island and the result was that it sounded even more wrong than before?

Yup - it made it worse. The thing is, using a midi player under dos, in MT32 mode, everything sounds fine. It doesn't sound like a real MT32, but it sounds good.

Sure, I'll post some more recordings as soon as I have some free time - either tomorrow night or friday afternoon. I don't have any of the games you listed installed, and tracking them down will take a little bit. The only sierra games I have are the Space Quest series and Gobliins 2. I think I might also have King's quest V.
