Well, I know I loved Doom 3. It wasn't anything like Doom 1/2, but I still loved it 😐
I can't wait for the new Doom. If it's anything like Wolfenstein The New Order, then it's awesome in my book. And if you didn't like the new Wolfenstein, then I'd say you're out of your mind 🤣

Well, at least they called it Fallout 4, not just Fallout again.

Samus, is that you? 😉
That could be Master Chief for all we know. 🤣

All socialists are good as dead, but this mindless obsession with the "national" breed of them has become exceeding boring, as noble as it is to remind people of the perils of nazism.
How about a "Castle of Leningrad" for a change?
Go play Red Alert if it makes you feel better.
All hail the Great Capacitor Brand Finder

Singularity, STALKER, and Metro come to mind.
How bout "Castle of the Carpathians Mountains" for a change?
;·))
I too really really hate that they are calling it DOOM instead of DOOM 4, I think they are doing this on purpose as a cheap marketing ploy. I'm not going to give a f*** about it and all my google searches will have any old doom stuff filtered out now. Heck I'm going to move to duckduckgo anyways because I can't find any relevant links to my searches half the time anymore.
Fun fact: Id was going to do that to Doom 3, give that just the "Doom" title.
New Id isn't learning from their mistakes.
Good grief, folks!
It's a video game with a name which will cause you somewhere between 0 and pretty-much-0 inconvenience. Storm in a teacup.

Ross's Game Dungeon had a fantastic rant about the trend of "use the title of the first game in the series for the 14th game and call it a 'reboot' ". It was (predictably enough) in the Wolfenstein episode. Well worth watching.
I'm still miffed that 'Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit' was a sequel to 'Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2', which was a sequel to 'Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit'. Publishers think we're all 10 years old with no long term memory at all.

I think id/Bethesda are not interested in keeping any kind of storyline continuity with previous iterations. They are making a Doom game and the goal is to recreate some form of the original Doom gameplay. I don't need a number on it. If it is stupid I won't need the game anyway. 😉

Yes, but by calling the new game 'Doom', then it will make it difficult for people searching the internet for fan made mods, advice, editing tips, even discussions about the new game, as they'll inevitably get some things mixed up with the original Doom, and vice-versa. Alright, so this won't tend to effect savvy users too much, but it will effect more people, and in time, when the new Doom is an old game, then confusion will grow when people search the net and confusion information about either one of the games.
Microsoft did the same thing by calling the XBox 3 the 'XBox One', which was the name used by many people to distinguish the first XBox from the second (the XBox 360). Many people called the first XBox the 'XBox 1', but now we have to use the phrase 'original XBox', which isn't great, as most information on the 'net about the 'original XBox' came from before the XBox One was announced, so most information about the original XBox is listed under either 'XBox' or 'XBox 1'. Which won't help future e-archaeologists when searching for information.

That actually sounds like a good thing 😀

This. I hate, hate, HATE it when they do this.
I think you are exaggerating the effects of the confusion just a bit.
There are so many established sources of DOOM/DOOM2 mods that I don't think this new game will be more than a drop in the bucket, and nothing will be hard to find.
Besides, like all games in recent years (or at least id games), it will go down the toilet not too long after release. DOOM will remain. 😀

Well... maybe I'm getting old (get off my lawn), but there isn't much about this reboot that is drawing me in. But, I should really play it first before dishing out any real judgement.
That box, it's just so ugly. Who thought that color scheme was a good idea?
Absolute trash. This about sums it up ....
