Hi everyone!

I have spectrometer Carl Zeiss Specord M40, which is controlled through COM-port in MS-DOS. I tried to run the control program in Windows XP through DOSBox. The program works, but there was not connection through serial port. I configurated it (serial1=directserial realport:com1) without success. How can I solve this problem?

Have you tried vDOS? It's a newer DOSbox variant with access to hardware ports through Windows.

I haven't looked at the program, but you might have some success in running it on XP natively, without dosbox.

DosBox is made for running games, not mission-critical equipment, and as such its emulation is imperfect. To be honest, I wouldn't even trust vDOS if accurate calculations are essential. I'd set up a dedicated machine running an actual copy of MS-DOS or at the very least FreeDOS instead.
