So here is my build list for my new build (the wife will let me have one old computer so I'm going to build this one for the most coverage of awesome)

ABIT NF7-S2 (Nforce 2 400 Ultra)
Athlon XP 2800
512mb DDR 400 Kingston (single stick for now, need to find a pair of 256mb sticks for dual channel)
Geforce 3 Ti 500 (going to replace with an FX5900 Ultra next month hopefully)
Western Digital 80GB IDE Drive
Sony NEC DVD-RW Drive
Logysis CS305BK
Austin 300W PowerSupply

I'm going to be loading Windows ME onto the system. What do yall think?

One quick question, how well do KVM switches work for actual gaming, is there a delay. I'm going to be using a 4 port DVI KVM, its USB but the motherboard supports USB Keyboard/Mouse in bios so thats not a worry, but what about input delay, is it manageable?

There should not be any input delay no.

Well, there will be a little, but it should be quite imperceptible.

Yes, unless you play Street Fighter you will not feel any delay. This is nowhere in the same ballpark as wireless console controllers, and even those are imperceptible to most people.

I'm pretty sure you won't notice a delay of a few microseconds no matter which game you're playing (unless you were born on planet Krypton).

Maybe the BIOS has a buggy ACPI implementation? Have you tried updating the BIOS to the latest version?

Also, did you install the system with ACPI support? I know Win98 needs to be installed with a "/P J" for it to be enabled (http://www.helpwithwindows.com/windows98/tune-37.html), but I have no idea of how this works for ME.

yes it did, Windows Me though is crash happy and upon further reading it seems to be because of the Nforce2, nforce2 doesn't like 9x. So I put Windows 2000 on it instead. all of my games will work on 2k so i guess might as well.

Seems weird how your nF2 setup won't take 9x. I have a MSI K7N2 (so nF2 as well) and I ran 98SE on it without any problem,using a Radeon 9600 256MB GPU.

Nice, Once your foots in the door then its all down hill 😉 Mine allowed 2 and the rest in storage, that was 2 years ago.. I now have 6, way I see it if I'm at home messing round with old PCs, tehn I'm not out spending money or getting in trouble 😉

Apart from NFS all my games are fine on 2000 as well and its loads more stable!
If your only allowed the 1 PC I'd get the Gameport for the Audigy. May as well make that 1 PC as nice as you can.
You playing any dos games?

no not really on this old box, I actually have all my DOS games working on PCEM on my i7 main box, but other games wouldn't work right on PCEM, more modern games so that's what this is for 🤣.

Sometimes I think that you are a troll. I remember you had to sell all your retro computers because your wife wanted you to get rid of them and space was an issue. A few weeks later after that you built another retro computer. Then you had a few more. Now you built this one...

no the wife did have me get rid of all of them, she allowed this one back in the house as long as It wasn't visible, I only had one keyboard, mouse, monitor and set of speakers. So I got a KVM switch. But you go ahead and think im a troll its ok. As for the other ones i built right after September that's real easy to explain my buddy that got all my stuff allowed me to play with it at his house, its all still technically mine. The K6-3, the Opteron 144, The Pentium 4 3.2, The Pentium 3 800. It's just now at his house where i can't play with it a lot.
