I purchased this card last June and it did not display an image. When I received it, the ROM chips had no stickers; I initially thought the chips were overexposed and that it was an XL24 model, due to the presence of a Brooktree RAMDAC. Since there are no existing ROM images for the XL24 I had given up.

However, I stumbled upon the card while looking for something else, and decided to flip the ROMs. This finally permitted a jumbled image with no post on a few of my systems, but thankfully my Comtex XT clone it posted. It was also set to an uncommon EGA mode as well, (which was the last setting saved within the ROMs).

What is most unusual is that the ROMs are identified as those present in a XL, not an XL24. Has anyone else seen a XL with a Brooktree?

Anyway it works now, and am quite pleased with its flexibility, particularly the wide variety of video modes. I have not yet tested in a 16-bit slot, or the bus mouse, but will sometime soon.

Anyway, the card now resides in a WaveMate XT/286. Here is a pic with the new labels affixed, and the amber monochrome mode on the N171 is also a nice touch:

Funny thing is, if you look above and below the ROM sockets, it labels them as ODD and EVEN as well as the labels on the chips... I would have probably missed it too.

If there are no images of those ROMs around, you might want to try and dump them. Problem being if you don't have the equipment, then getting a separate ODD and an EVEN image isn't going to be easy, unless there's a tool I don't know about - Actually, I'm almost certain there used to be one for Mega Drive ROMs that split files into two separate ones, but if there was, I no longer have it.

Here is what it looked like when I received:

As you can tell, I had no idea that the ROMs may have been switched. This means someone took them out and put them back in incorrectly before I received.
